Career Success Without A Real Job, Part Four

Ready to move on to a new career and get out of the job you despise? Chapter four of Ernie Zelinski’s book Career Success without a Real Job contains numerous nuggets to help you rethink what you do for a living. The chapter is about creativity: why it’s crucial, how to become more creative, and how creativity can make your work life much easier than you every thought possible.

For me, the section of the chapter entitled, “One great idea can change your life” is the most compelling. The list of ideas to get your creative juices flowing is short and sweet, but a necessary part of developing your own career path.

1. Learn to see and capitalize on the many opportunities life has to offer.

If you’re like me, you may once in a while have regretful thoughts about “what might have been” had you only had the foresight to make a different decision when you were younger.

But, there’s still hope! Every day, new opportunities are opening around you. That lady giving out vitamin samples in the grocery store might be the next distributor in your nutritional-based MLM business. An old barn being torn down just outside your city might provide the very materials you need for a woodworking project.

The key to making this idea work is thinking out of the box.

2. Record all your ideas, no matter how crazy.

Zelinski states that the most unorthodox ideas often have the most potential. Can you think of any examples? How about Harry Potter, the iPod phone or the Rubik’s cube? Then there’s the idea some geek had for coding a kind of website that non-geeks could design and set up without a professional web designer.

What is that called? A gob? Mog? Frog?

Oh, hold on…I think I’ve got it…a blog. ;)

Anyway, always have a notepad and pencil with you. Otherwise, the great idea that occurs to you in the middle of a shoe store will be gone before you make it to the checkout counter.

3. Come up with five income-generating ideas per day for thirty days.

The first day, it will be hard to come with five. But probably by the tenth day, you may have trouble not going over ten ideas. Creativity breeds creativity, and the ideas you will come up with will begin multiplying exponentially.

Include in there some ideas for an online business. Even if your main work ends up being offline, you can always make extra income on the side by spending a few extra hours a week on the computer. Check out this course, Internet Marketing Success Secrets, to get started.

So if you’re serious about getting out of the rat race and living life on your own terms, give yourself time to become the most creative person you know!
